Residents of a small coastal town in Japan have reported that tadpoles have started to rain down from the sky. It has been suggested that high winds or even a waterspout could be possible explanations for the phenomenon.
Meteorologists in Japan say the rainy season has just started in Tokyo, but residents in a small coastal town have reported a different phenomenon -- tadpoles dropping out of the sky."

Similar events -- in what is sometimes called the "Fafrotskies" phenomenon, short for "fall from the sky" -- have been reported around the world, with whirlwinds passing over water bodies and picking up frogs, jellyfish or other unfortunate animals before dumping them back to earth. Now, picture a class five tornado shredding across a massive cow field. The nearby town is in for a world of hurt.

Frog and fish falls are actually far more common that you would think. The problem with the 'waterspout' theory is that is a waterspout picked the frogs up from another body of water, where is the debris that would go with it? There are recorded incidents of such events back to the 1500s. Occasionally money/coins have been also known to fall from the sky - no planes overhead, sorry.
