A memo has revealed that the MoD will destroy future UFO reports received after keeping them for only 30 days.
The move will exempt the files from having to be released under freedom of information laws, the memo stated that an increase in the number of UFO reports received was diverting staff from more valuable matters related to defence.
The British UFO investigation unit and hotline were closed at the start of December. Since then reports have been kept for 30 days. It means that details of sightings will be exempt from freedom of information laws. The memo said that an increase in reports had diverted staff from “more valuable” defence-related activities. The MoD had 634 reports of sightings last year, the highest total since 1978.

It doesn't matter if they destroy records or not, simple little fact is that if they have records that they really just don't want us to see then they just wont release them no matter how much we ask, they would probably just say that there were no files. I think if they did have any files on UFOs that were worth anything (& I think they do) then they would be at such a high lvl of security that only the people at the highest lvls would know they exist. I would go as far as to say I doubt even political leaders would know anything of substance about UFOs because more political titles are t... [More]

It's not secret, most if not all of these are reports to the MoD by the public - so it's not secret anyway. Well, that's exactly it, isn't it. All the reports they receive are probably telling them nothing they don't know already. That's why I'm sure Nick Pope and his desk was only ever a public front.

Fundamentally it is about the STRANGE BEHAVIOUR of governments around the world, particularly in the US and UK. It might be okay for governments of countries such as Brazil or Vietnam to keep mum or avoid unnecessary protracted investigations into UFO sightings, but when you think about the behaviour of the relevant government or quasi-government portfolios in the US and UK trying to hush-hush things, it is definitely NOT normal at all. Hey people, didn't this STRANGE BEHAVIOUR got you thinking. It got me thinking almost 20 years ago. This question is still nagging me. This strange behaviour h... [More]

NO GOVERNMENT needs to 'make anything up' anymore the seeds are sown the world over by now. There is enough disinformation around to confuse even the confusers

I don't think that the MoD destroying UFO records is necessarily anything sinister. They're not a UFO research facility, and they're under no obligation to record the sightings reported to them. They probably got annoyed after the twentieth person phone them about a Thai lantern and decided they couldn't be arsed. I agree that an independent hotline would be good. I would imagine they should be interested on UFO reports. If a reported UFO has any chance of being part of some secret project being led by an unknown country, I'm sure someone would be interested on it...just remember UFOs are more... [More]

Fundamentally, (objective) science which is what science is today, CANNOT command 100% success in explaining the unexplained phenomena. Again, there will remain areas where (objective) science will never be able to investigate certain areas of phenomena which lie beyond objectivity. This 'block' which objective science faces time and again when trying to investigate phenomena which lies beyond objectivity is due to the very nature of the investigator NOT on the investigated phenomena. So there will remain areas where (objective) science will have some phenomena 'uninvestigated' not because of ... [More]

That would be my guess... They havent found any credible evidence that shows UFOs to pose a threat to NS, or to be extraterrestrial visitors. If they had, I think that the world would look a lot different that it does today. Who is they? If "they" know about it its only a select few who could obtain information like this and they would not spread this information around especially to people on this site.
