There's a pleasant irony in this story. War machine used to show just how vulnerable we all are on our small globe (or disc if you're a terry Pratchett fan). The UFO comment in the story offers nothing other than supposition so let's discard that as hokum.

A ufo is what it is, until prooved positive and real by all including science. Theres no link between ufo's and v2 rockets other than they are the same at the same time in the same place, ergo the same thing.
