Colorado girl struck by lightning in her bedroom

A 9-year-old girl was in her bedroom watching TV when a lighting strike came in her window and hit her.
Despite being barely able to speak for a while afterwards the girl was relatively unharmed by the ordeal. She was taken to hospital for tests but doctors found no signs of serious injury.
A young Colorado girl struck by lightning lived to tell about it -- and without a scratch on her. "I was laying down, the lightning came through the window and shocked my foot," 9-year-old Lexie Archuleta told a local CBS station.

What are the odds? USA population = 280,000,000 1000 lightning victims/year/average Odds = 1 : 280,000 of being struck by lightning -Taken from NLSI Its a good chance lol The chance was to survive...

The chance was to survive... Would be an 87% chance to survive, then.

You're not safe anywhere these days...good thing she's ok. It's not as if she was under a tall conductor like a tree or a metal object, it was in her own bedroom. I'd be paranoid in her place after an ordeal like that. Glad to hear she wasn't hurt.

If you look out a window and see open sky you're at least theoretically in the path of a possible lightning strike from that direction. But in the case of our nine-year-old girl I wonder if the bolt might have first bounced off a fence post, a tree or another building before striking her foot. That would have considerably lessened its power.

Congratulations to this girl! Hopefully, the strike hasn't caused any severe medical impacts on her body. This story made me search around the internet for lightning strike survivors, and apparently, there are quite a lot. There was also Roy Sullivan, he's in the Guinness World Records for being hit by lightning 7 times and he survived all of them.
