Its one of the most popular horror novels of all time but what was the inspiration behind Frankenstein ?
Mary Shelley's iconic novel Frankenstein was written in 1818 and has been retold and reworked countless times over the last 200 years in movies, books and theatres all over the world.
It has all the makings of a great monster story: an attempt to draw lightning from the sky, a scientist passionate to show that electricity held the secret of life, body parts and, of course, reanimation of the dead.
