The legend of Jesus' great-grandmother

Two 14th and 15th century manuscripts have revealed details of Jesus' great-grandmother.
St. Ismeria was a beautiful and devout woman who married patriarch Santo Liseo. Catherine Lawless of the University of Limerick believes that the story of her life reflects what Florentines of the time would have expected it to be.
A pious, and ultimately, saintly woman named Ismeria was grandmother to the Virgin Mary, and great-grandmother to Jesus, according to a medieval legend.

I've also read that Joseph or Arimathea may have been his uncle, or at least a close male relative, and that he might also have been a soldier and friend of Pontius Pilate. One story also has it that the real father of Jesus was a soldier and that he visited him sometimes. I suspect that there's a whole lot of history on this subject that we'll never know, such as whether he was really married to Mary of Magdala and the wedding feast of Cana was really his own wedding, etc, etc.

Nah, I think it was his mother's side. The article said St. Ismeria gave birth to St. Ann, who was Mary's mother. So, yeah, I guess it was his mom's side.

And since when do we give credit to legends that have no basis in historical fact, having been created 1000 years after the fact.
