James Randi is offering $1m to any homeopathy manufacturer able to prove that their products work.
Previously Randi famously offered $1m to anyone who can demonstrate psychic powers, now his attention has turned towards exposing homeopathy as a scam by offering the same amount to any manufacturer able to demonstrate that homeopathic remedies actually do anything at all.
To expose a scam industry that endangers and rips off millions of consumers a year, world-renowned conjuror, escape artist, and skeptic James Randi has put one million dollars on the line.

Sorry for a momentary derail, but, ear candles? People actually put candles in their ears? ??? That's something I've never heard of before. To my understanding, it is actually waxed paper than you put in the ear and light up (you remove it before the flame reaches you, of course. It does work, if only for the same reason that warm oil, pipe smoke, and regular newspaper does; the heat from the burning helps to sooth any inflammation. Back when I was a child in Chile and we went swimming, we would often have air stuck in our ears. Our Grandma would roll a sheet of newspaper into a cone, stick it... [More]

Is homeopathy really a problem? Yes, for several reasons. The main one is that companies (like Boots) present it as an effective alternative to legitimate medicine. There is no evidence for this, but there is plenty of evidence that stopping your regular medication and taking sugar pills can be damaging, even deadly (depending on whats wrong with you). In South Africa the european homoeopathy salesman Matthias Rath has convinced many people in the SA government that anti-retroviral drugs actually make AIDS worse and that homoeopathy cures it. In a country like SA this isn't funny: huge HIV inf... [More]

We observe trillions and trillions of causes and no hard evidence something comes from nothing and that is not good enough? You're trying to be God, for only God could be all-knowing. Let's say there was one last thing you didn't know holding out it could prove God does not exist, that sounds like false humility to the nth degree. A trillion causes is more than good enough. **EDIT** **Parture, see the PM I am sending you.** Well, if there is no hard evidence that something came from nothing, there can be no god.

oh is this like this kind of thing? Theres a guy who goes around Canada selling stem enhance to seniors i went with my grandma once. shes believes it works and pays 55 dollars a bottle. he went on and on with a speech that would sound very scientific to someone with hardly any science knowledge at all. what i found interesting was something that he repeated a lot was "this product does nothing, but it supports the release of stem cells"? Snake Oil?

Gob Bless James Randi for doing this... I have been (and still am) a massage therapist for over 32 years. I have seen doctors and alike killing (yes, killing!) people with promises of homeopathy working to help instead of real medication. Let's not confuse homeopathy with natropathic! Homeopathy is a scam that plays upon the fears of others. I have lost many friends with those promises and hate those who use this as a way of preventing and curing disease. So... once again, God Bless you James Randi.

I dont know why James keeps bothering with this. They will just either try and fake their way through it, fail and then make excuses like many do, or use some lame excuse like they dont need money or fame.
