The man, who lost the ability to walk in a car accident 28 years ago, will be carried using a robot suit.
Normally the idea of climbing a mountain, let alone with another man strapped to your back, would be a daunting prospect. What makes this feat possible is the Hybrid Assisted Limb exoskeleton, a system that is able to increase the wearer's physical strength.
The HAL suit works by detecting faint bioelectrical signals using pads placed on specific areas of the body. The pads move the HAL suit accordingly. The Cyberdyne website explains: 'When a person attempts to move, nerve signals are sent from the brain to the muscles via motoneuron, moving the musculoskeletal system as a consequence.

Sam12 - there already is a wheelchair that can negotiate stairs, they are just fiendishly expensive. "The Cyberdyne Corporation" ??? You gotta be shittin me. Gnarly! I'm a little worried now. Some skinny rich kid will beat the crap out of me in his powered suit with "Terminator" stenciled on the leg. :)
