A man who suffered from being able to hear his own eyeballs moving in their sockets has been cured.
The 57-year-old had been given a variety of medications to try and treat his peculiar ailment, a rare ear condition that caused him to be able to hear sounds very loudly within his own body. "Eventually I could hear my heart beating and my eyes moving in their sockets. It was really distracting," he said.
Stephen Mabbutt, 57, from Charlton, near Banbury, could also hear his own heart beating. Mr Mabbutt first experienced symptoms six years ago, when he felt a dull ache in the side of his head.

What a strange illness. I'm glad he got help and no longer suffers. Somehting like that would probably drive me insane.

Nothing wrong with being aware of the movements of ones own body, he may be able to detect anomalies.

I have been recently diagnosed with this very same disorder....it is rather odd. And no....it is not very neat to hear your own bodily functions, such as your eyes in your sockets (sounds like sandpaper), and moving your neck, you hear the cartlidge and bone in your neck. Anytime I bend over and stand up, I get dizzy....loud noises, music, someone yelling, etc., makes me dizzy...which in turn makes me nauseous....so not fun at all. I'm looking into having the surgery done, but I'm only 35 and I'm scared to death! Just thought I would enlighten some of you on how this rare disorder can make you... [More]

Sometimes I can hear my heart beating but now I'm wondering if I should talk to a doctor about it. I thought it's normal.
