Prince Charles: "mankind is endangered"

The Prince of Wales has stated that mankind is facing a "sixth great extinction event".
Speaking as president of the British wildlife charity WWF-UK, the Prince warned that mankind's very survival is being threatened by the way we are depleting the Earth's natural resources. "For too many years, it seems to me, we have been concentrating on climate change as the number one threat when, unfortunately, it is merely a threat multiplier to the risks we face from the rapacious way we have used our natural resources," he said.
Speaking to WWF-UK staff and other environmentalists at St. James's Palace in London, Prince Charles - who is taking over a position once occupied by his father and, for the past 29 years, by his cousin Princess Alexandra - said that what was needed was "robust leadership into the future. "

People need to adapt. in the past we rode in horse drawn carriages and people got around just fine.... how fast does a single person need to go in order to reach that starbucks. As for the eleven hour recharge... if there is a demand, invention will rise to meet it. There isn't a demand. People don't want to drive electric cars which can't go faster than 50mph which have a range of 50 miles and which take half-a-day to fill up (you wouldn't want to run out "juice" on your way to wherever you are going). They want normal cars which will take them from A to B in the most efficient way possible a... [More]

A zombie plague is the answer. It would theoretically be plausable deniability, people would eat each other, then all die from starvation when there's nothing left to eat. After that, the bunker dwelling elites and pre-selected minions, slaves, workers, or servants could go topside (with a designer antivirus) and start over.

How many people do you know have developed lung cancer from traffic fumes? having worked in a hospice, unfortunately too many. Never mind, you're probably luckier than them as I gather from your response. I remember one day I spent in London, when in the evening I blew my nose and it was all black. I can't even inagine what your lungs might look like after a lifetime in the city. Probably worse than smoking. But I'm sure I've got it all wrong, petrol fumes must be completely harmless.

As for the eleven hour recharge... if there is a demand, invention will rise to meet it. While I was visiting my dad in Texas, there were a lot of people who rode horses around town. Places had hitching posts up to tie the horses to. If I lived where he did, I would totally ride a horse everywhere. I actually did while I was visiting. I had never actually ridden a horse before that, so I had some killer muscle aches, b... [More]

Maybe I should consider moving to a place with a high Amish population. Well, they would certainly be the ones to show and help others how to live "off the grid". http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29019426/ns/weather There are alternatives besides the dogmatic assumption that increased technology + GDP = Happiness.

I found the scientist who is feeding all that info to Charles. Look up Professor James Lovelock on google. He is the one who is predicting that the human population will be 'culled' down to 500 million because of man's misuse of the environment. Global warming will finish off 6.5 billion and the survivors will be living in arctic or higher latitudes. Locklock has wild ideas about the future and there is no doubt that he has Charles' ear. You should read about Lovelock's theories and predictions and you can predict for yourself what will next come out of Charles' mouth.

We have to have oil fuel vehicles for business, etc. AND to transport food and productcs. Your kumbi... [More]

I am not blind to the suffering of millions and to suggest that I am is very arrogant of you. They are like that because of greed. The greed of goverments, politions and of those who insist on stripping the planet bare for their own comfort. Also the people who instead of caring for the planet, shoot at what ever they want and claim it's a sport. They are destroying the enviroment that We need to survive. What this planet needs is a break from humanity so it can recover. Even if that included me. You look but you don't see They are suffering from someone elses' greed, not their own. We are tal... Duh, thanks Charlie, glad you could join us. The petrie dish will be fine, it's the little microbes in it that will have the problem, and quite a problem it will be.

So let me get this straight, it goes like this? 1) Prince Charles gives a talk and suggests that people should be more green 2) Zealous "greenies" take offence at this and complain that he's not green enough whilst most of them drive too and from work and post from a computer gobbling electricity. 3) Prince Charles is now the bad guy for supporting the idea that the "greenies" above often try to force down other peoples throats. Interesting... p.s. I use the term "greenies" as I can't think of a better term at the minute, it's not meant to be offensive in anyway and I apologise if you find it ... [More]
