The prehistoric lair of a gargantuan sea creature may have been found in the depths of the ocean.
The remains of large prehistoric ichthyosaurs displaying injuries indicative of a large octopus-like creature suggest the legendary Kraken might have more of a basis in reality than previously thought. If confirmed, the beasts would have been up to 100 feet long, dwarfing today's largest denizen of the depths - the colossal squid.
A giant sea monster, the likes of the mythological kraken, may have swum Earth's ancient oceans, snagging what was thought to be the sea's top predators — school bus-size ichthyosaurs with fearsome teeth.
