Europe ends calls to stranded Mars probe

The odds of a recovery for Russia's Phobos-Grunt Mars probe are looking increasingly bleak.
The European Space Agency has called an end to attempts to communicate with the stricken probe which has been stuck in orbit since it was launched a few weeks ago. Russia is expected to continue attempts to rescue the spacecraft however at this point it looks extremely unlikely that the mission can be salvaged.
It is looking increasingly grim for Russia's Mars mission Phobos-Grunt, which has been stuck circling the Earth since its launch in early November.
