'Unicorn lair' claim surfaces in North Korea

The country has attracted attention again this week with a rather strange claim from archaeologists.
North Korea is no stranger to bizarre claims but this one might take the cake. The official state news agency has announced that a 'unicorn lair' has been found in Pyongyang and that it would have once been used by the King to house several of the mythical animals. According to reports, the discovery was made when archaeologists came across a rock with the words 'unicorn lair' inscribed on it.

The announcement might not be quite what it seems however, there is speculation that this could be a response to the recent satirical article published in the Onion that proclaimed Kim Jong-Un as "the sexiest man alive". Could North Korea be responding in kind with its own piece of satire or is there another explanation for the origins of this bizarre 'discovery' ?[!gad]North Korea is no stranger to bizarre claims but this one might take the cake. North Korea has raised eyebrows around the world by announcing that researchers have proved the existence of the unicorn.

This is just so asinine I am ready for it to die. If I have to see another (and I know I'm asking for it here) bad unicorn video, I'm going to hurl.

Why would a unicorn, an animal that, if it existed would essentially be a horse. Live in a lair? What possible need would a horse have to live underground? caves are not usually roomy enough for a horse in my experiance.

It now appears that the unicorn angle was a mistranslation. It has emerged that what translators were trying to say was that top North Korean explorers had found the nest of a beast with a dragon's head, a deer's body, the tail of a cow, hooves and a mane. The mix-up centred on the translation of the word "kirins" or "Qilins," Prof James Grayson told the Guardian. He said the mythical creature occupies a special place in Korean folklore as the favourite mode of transport for a legendary ruler from antiquity. http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/412308/20121206/north-korea-unicorn-mystery-kirins.h...
