Julia Gillard recorded a comical doomsday message to help promote Australia's Triple J radio show.
Gillard's announcement left many people scratching their heads when it first appeared on-line. "Whether the final blow comes from flesh-eating zombies, demonic hell beasts or from the total triumph of K-pop, if you know one thing about me it is this: I will always fight for you to the very end," she said before quipping "at least this means I won't have to do Q & A again."
The Prime Minister's office was inundated with calls following the broadcast. "What Australian doesn't mind a laugh from time to time?" the office replied in a statement. "Anyway, the world's going to end so shouldn't you be writing about that?"
Julia Gillard's 50-second message addresses her "dear remaining fellow Australians". She steps in ahead of CSIRO scientists to foreshadow the world's impending doom.
