The uncannily human-like Petman robot from Boston Dynamics has now been given a head and clothes.
Well known for their impressive four-legged BigDog robot, the DARPA funded engineering and robotics company have also been developing a bipedal robot that looks and walks a lot like a human being. In its most recent update, Petman has received a human-like head and is now able to wear clothes. Unlike BigDog which is designed to be useful on the battlefield, Petman is aimed at working in laboratories by testing out protective clothing.To assist in this duty, Petman has been equipped with the ability to not only walk like a human but to even produce sweat and heat to better simulate a human wearing the suit. The creators of the eerily beast-like BigDog robot have shown off a new creation on video. The formerly headless "Petman" anthropomorphic robot has gained both a cranium and a set of clothes — but its jaunty step is still the same, in a video shared Friday.
