Shadow figure terrorizes Boston offices

Staff at the Boston Borough Council’s Municipal Buildings have reported accounts of poltergeist activity.
Paranormal occurrences at the 110-year-old West Street premises have become so commonplace that four employees have reported experiences and one is now too scared to work there alone.

The activity has included appliances being switched on and off, glass and other items being thrown around and sightings of a mysterious shadow entity that has become notorious for appearing behind people and then vanishing again.
One of the employees recalled screaming at the top of her lungs when, having finished making a cup of coffee, she turned around to witness an apparition standing directly behind her.

"I sometimes get a creepy feeling and there are cold spots in the office," she said. "I turned from the fridge after making a coffee and in front of me was this dark figure."

"The office is often really cold even though we have good heating. I don't like to be here on my own and if I am I keep the door open with a chair. I never believed in ghosts, but I'm not so sure now."

From the article... "I turned from the fridge after making a coffee and in front of me was this dark figure." Looks like Boston has the same 'hard-working public employees' as the rest of us.

I don't understand. You need a camera that covers everything from ultraviolet right through visible light and through infrared to capture anything when it comes to ghosts? That makes no sense to me. Why do you need a camera capable of capturing everything in that EM frequency range in order to capture something within that range? I'd like to see the rationale behind your claim. I don't know the rationale. Just repeating what I've heard. I have seen photos of taken with a normal visible spectrum camera (400 - 700nm) versus the same seen with a full spectrum camera (UV - IR) and some figure was ... [More]

Based on what little I know, you'd need to use a full spectrum camera to get the UV and IR ranges to even to expect to catch anything at all. Sounds like they need TAPS to check out the place. Even then, the cameras very rarely show anything there even when the investigators and cameraman all see something. I watch Ghost Hunters mainly for background noise. Every once in a while something interesting pops up. Most of the time nothing but people's imagination running away with them. I watch Ghost Hunters too and I often wonder why when they are interacting with ghosts (and I'm sure you've seen ... [More]

Visual perception is largely cognitive. The visual cortex is the arguably the largest system in the human brain. So, are we really dealing with items being manipulated and an associated but elusive shadow figure? Does this lead one to believe there exists an intelligent entity able to exert sufficient force to cause a mechanical reaction yet without sufficient mass to appear as a solid? Or, are we really dealing with a human perception issue related to basic survival when dealing with potential novelty; novelty that is further being reinforced by others.

It seems a poor way to explain the lack of ghosts on conventional cameras even though we have footage supposedly took on them

I watch Ghost Hunters too and I often wonder why when they are interacting with ghosts (and I'm sure you've seen when they use the flashlights back and forth) why don't they ask them if they've met God. Or do the ghosts know what's going on. I've seen some amazing Ghost Hunter shows where they absolutely have seen an apparition (there was a Civil War soldier reflected in a cabinet) and it was definitely that. I don't think GH fakes stuff. At least I hope not! I don't think Ghost Hunters fake any evidence they present. I've noticed on a number of occasions where there are items found during ana... [More]

I don't think Ghost Hunters fake any evidence they present. I've noticed on a number of occasions where there are items found during analysis that never get presented to the client.. That should account for something. Hi paperdyer, Like what items found? Are these items which have never been presented to the client but shown to the world?

The mechanics/process of how a ghost manifests is what we need to focus on, then maybe there can be evidence like predicting a hurricane and experiencing it since we know the location and conditions for the presentation. They used to believe these were wraths of deities or whatever didn't they lol. The most convincing spook photos are usually found by accident, not just wandering allegedly creepy places though I don't doubt many such locations harbour energies, how they become active is either summat to do with the material or the mind, perhaps both, that's just my ponderings.
