Several surprising and unconventional names have been declared illegal in some parts of the world.
It stands to reason that not every possible name will be considered acceptable in all countries, however in some regions the choice of banned names is somewhat surprising.
In Portugal for instance the name Tom is disallowed while Saudi Arabia has determined that seemingly harmless monikers such as Elaine, Linda and Alice are similarly inappropriate.
Most banned names however have stemmed from parents who have actually taken the decision to name their newborns some of the most ridiculous, bizarre and unsuitable names you could possibly imagine.
In the Mexican state of Sonora for example the names 'Facebook', 'Traffic','James Bond', 'Lady Di' and 'RoboCop' are considered illegal. A single '@' symbol is not deemed to be an appropriate name in China while 'Metallica' is unacceptable in Sweden.
Perhaps the most bizarre of all however is the outrageously ridiculous 'Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii' which was banned in New Zealand after a nine-year-old girl with that moniker was put into court guardianship until her name could be changed.
