Lock up your cookie jar... Image Credit: Facebook / Mike Bowers
Rock collector Mike Bowers has identified a rare geode-like rock that looks strangely familiar when split in two.
Discovered at a well known hotspot for finding precious stones in Soledade, Brazil, the mineral - which is known as an agate - happens to be a dead ringer for the cookie-obsessed Sesame Street Muppet.
Images of the find went viral after Bowers posted photographs of it up on Facebook.
"I think this is probably the most perfect Cookie Monster out there," he said. "I have seen others but here you have it complete (both sides) Lucas Fassari is actually the one who found it."
"This is very unusual! There are a few famous agates out there: the owl, the scared face... there are many approximate ones but rare to find clear well defined like that."
Incredibly, some interested parties have already offered sizable sums of money for the rock.
"Prices can be very high," said Bowers.
"I was proposed over $10,000 by 5 different buyers. Rare."
I have so many halved thunder eggs, I wish they were worth that much! They always look like some kind of picture pretty uncanny sometimes how perfect some of the resemblances are.
