The notoriously haunted establishment is reportedly home to all manner of paranormal happenings.
Nestled among the buildings on Niddry Street in Edinburgh, Scotland, the Banshee Labyrinth is perhaps the quintessential definition of a haunted pub.

Those who work at and frequent this outwardly quaint establishment have reported all manner of supernatural occurrences ranging from glasses throwing themselves across the room to creepy, disembodied sounds that can be heard in the corridors in the middle of the night.

Every good haunted pub also needs its own sinister history and the Banshee Labyrinth is no exception.

Constructed directly into part of the infamous Edinburgh vaults, the building was once frequented by all manner of ne'er-do-wells including thieves, murderers and even witch-hunters.

Some believe that the spirits who frequent the pub today are those of the women who were wrongfully accused of witchcraft before being put to death with no hope of appeal or escape.
One particularly famous encounter occurred while renovation work was being carried out.

One of the workmen reported that he had seen a crying woman inside the building, but when he went over to check on her she lifted her head, revealing pale skin and empty eye sockets.

She let out a piercing, hellish scream, prompting the man to flee in terror.

The story goes that only a few minutes later, he received a phone call to tell him that a member of his family had passed away.

The incident prompted the pub's owners to change its name to the Banshee Labyrinth soon after.
