Man claims to have been cursed by 'haunted' painting

Could this painting really be haunted ? Image Credit: eBay / Dan Smith
The man, who bought the painting for just $50 from a flea market, maintains that it has ruined his life.
Dan Smith, who claims that the former owner of the piece had warned him that it would bring him nothing but misfortune, took the (seemingly erroneous) decision to buy it anyway.

At a glance, the painting - which shows what appears to be a baby girl with her doll - seems innocuous enough, but according to Smith, it has caused no end of problems.

Since bringing it home, he has reported experiencing what he describes as an "epic loosing streak" which has included an inability to sleep, an insect infestation in his house and the loss of his pet.

In addition, it left him feeling miserable, lonely and anxious.
He is now seeking to get rid of the thing by selling it to someone else on eBay.

"I don't know whose cursed blood was mixed in with the paint to create this piece, but its powers are strong," he wrote. "I'm starting the auction at $50, which is what I paid for it but am hoping it goes for more to make up for everything I've been through. But before you bid... you've been warned!"

"Why not destroy it you wonder? Well sure, setting the painting on fire could rid the world of the wickedness brought about by the piece, but it could just as easily unleash the evil."

"Who's to say that by burning it I'm not just going to make things ten times worse?"

If the bloke really believed it was cursed or evil he would have an idea that destroying this is not going to end the curse but transfer it, he also wouldn't be selling unless he was a real ----. I believe he is just a greedy careless soul.

I think that destroying it by fire would end the curse(dissipate it?).

Im just not superstitious and as ive said here many times if a person has an item they believe is haunted or cursed send it to me, i wont flip it, i will display it in my home and have zero issues from it because one thing i do know is a fact the best way to avoid the bogus focus or hocus pocus is be a skeptic.

since it was purchased at a flea market, anything could be attached. It looks like whoever the artist was, they were what we used to call in the old days, a Sunday Painter. Meaning that they were people who worked but painted on the weekends. It was their hobby, a way to relax. All there so called haunted objects remind me of the song Smut, by Professor Tom Lehr. He was a professor at MIT who wrote novelty songs. You can find his videos on Youtube. Anyhow, one of the lines, go something about I'm glad to say that anything is smut in the eyes of the beholder, I could tell you tales about Peter P... [More]

I don't trust bidders on Ebay. Like with video games, others may manipulate the trending price. I'd bet one of his friends/family raised the bid.
