What exactly goes on in the mind of someone who is in the middle of being resuscitated following a cardiac arrest ?
Published in the journal 'Resuscitation', the new study - which was headed up by a team of researchers from the US and the UK - monitored 567 patients who experienced cardiac arrest while in hospital.

Sadly, only around 10 percent of those studied were successfully resuscitated, but those who survived were able to offer some intriguing insights into their experiences.

Out of the 28 interviewed, 11 described memories and perceptions indicating that they had still experienced some level of conscious awareness during the cardiac arrest.
6 of the patients experienced what was described as a "transcendent recalled experience of death" - or what's more commonly known as a near-death experience.

Brain scans during this time also indicated that activity had continued even after the heart had stopped.

"There's nothing more extreme than cardiac arrest because they're literally teetering between life and death, they're in a deep coma and they don't respond to us physically at all," said lead study author Dr. Sam Parnia of the department of medicine at NYU Langone Health.

"What we're able to show is that up to 40% of people actually have a perception of having been conscious to some extent."

For a meaningful afterlife in pantheism, we would have a soul that is our 'essence' that exists through many afterlife experiences and incarnations. It is the soul, not matter, that eventually realizes Oneness with the universe.

Hypothetically speaking as if one was part of the universe You do understand entropy yeah? And you understand that the universe is expanding as well? It's slowly tearing itself apart.

I was suggesting our essence is not made of matter/energy that your entropy concept is discussing.

Are you suggest it becomes "one" (for want of a better word) with the universe?  Because it's slowly coming apart.

Actually one with the One consciousness of which the universe is its derivative.

So not "the universe" as one but something else that isn't actually pantheism?  What's your point then?

…  if a finite universe is expanding …then the finite amount of Energy from which it is composed becomes less energetic as it disperses???     So it puzzles me as to how the countless newly forming stars, planets, etc.  are being formed ?  I know there are unimaginably immense clouds of dust being formed all the time from exploding stars etc. .and it’s all an ongoing recycling process,   but if the universe is getting thinner and weaker,   how is the continuous creation possible?    …just thought I’d ask, because I figure you might have an interesting answer.      ( I suspect it might have som... The universe realized oneness with me when I was created.

It's just expansion. The universe is expanding at about 3.2 million light years a second. In billions of years everything will be so far apart that nothing can interact.  Heat death, big rip. Both see the universe as dying in around 22 billion years.

Assuming we are observing all phenomenon... which is highly doubtful given the small frame of our perceptual modeling apparatus and our technology which is but an extension of those...
