A train passenger recently captured video footage of a hairy humanoid figure walking across a nearby hillside.
Shannon Parker and her husband had been riding on a train through the San Juan Mountains between Silverton and Durango at the weekend when they spotted the alleged creature.
"When I saw it, we were looking for elk," her husband Stetson told Cowboy State Daily.
"It wasn't moving like a bear or anything else I've ever seen."
Another passenger, who had been seated near the couple in the rearmost carriage of the train, took out his mobile phone and captured a short video clip.
The resulting footage (viewable below) quickly went viral online.
It shows what appears to be a distinct figure covered entirely in light-brown hair. In the clip, it can be seen walking towards the left while camouflaged by the grass on the hillside.
After a few seconds, it squats down and waits as the train rolls slowly past.
But is this really evidence of Bigfoot or could the whole thing have been an elaborate prank ?

Oh, so it is a guy in a suit after all? Shocked, shocked I say.
Was, a lot more fishing in the past 10 years. A bunch in my family are still hunting but I still like shoting on targets. I'm a biologist... hunting cameras are nice tools for wildlife survey. I'm presently designing survey system prototypes for small wildlife for rodents and amphibian. AI will help a lot soon enough for the slow moving ones, IR and movement detection are pretty bad for cold blooded animals, pixel-based change detection will help but have a bunch of bugs presently...
That is well and fine. To the point, the vast majority of hunters are not roving surveillance drones which would surely capture crystal clear footage of anything.
Longtime resident reveals legends, pranks after latest 'proof' He said he — nor his buddies — ever met the guy pretending to be Bigfoot or learned his name, but he heard the man dressed like the creature and timed his appearance near the train and specific spots. As the train would move away, he would be in the river dressed up so tourists would purposely get a bad angle or blurry photos like what that couple got," Civiletto said with a laugh. "It was done in good fun."
