A peculiar glow visible for miles around in the skies over East Yorkshire, England recently left locals scratching their heads.
The phenomenon, which had been likened to scenes from the popular Netflix show 'Stranger Things', left a large part of the night sky illuminated by an eerie pink glow.
Some believed that they had witnessed the Northern Lights, while others believed the spectacle to be indicative of some kind of astronomical phenomenon.
"I was like, whoa what on earth is that?" said amateur astronomer Ruby Hilson.
"There was this massive pink light. It looked like a disc. My brain initially went to 'it's a UFO'. But it wasn't moving. It obviously wasn't a UFO."
The truth, as it turns out, is about as mundane as you can possibly imagine.
"It's LED lights used for growing plants," said Nick Denham, managing director of The Plant Raisers.
"Because of the energy crisis we had to invest heavily in LED lights. But it means the light is pink and not white that people saw before."
