Giant inflatable Santa is gunned down by drive-by shooter in Kentucky

Keen to make an impression, Donald Nelson of Kentucky recently spent the day putting up a huge $200 inflatable Father Christmas decoration in his front garden in Lexington.

All was well and he, along with his wife, had been sitting on the couch at around 8:15pm when they heard what sounded like a small bang coming from outside.

When Nelson opened the front door, he found the Santa very much deflated.At first he didn't think much of the incident, but after reviewing his security camera footage he realized that the decoration had actually been fired upon by someone in a passing vehicle.

Sure enough, upon closer inspection, he found a large bullet hole in the material.

"There are multiple neighbors that have inflatables too, and I mean certainly they could be targeted as well," he told WLEX. "If they've done just one, they'll probably do several."

Efforts are now underway to identify and catch whoever was responsible.

Someone drove by a home in Lexington's West Gardenside neighborhood Sunday night and shot at this inflatable Santa Claus decoration.

A report was made to the Lexington Police department.
