The iconic 90s show introduced millions to the world of shadowy government conspiracies, UFOs and weird creatures.
When The X-Files debuted back in 1993, nobody has ever seen anything quite like it.

Following FBI agents Fox Mulder (played by David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (played by Gillian Anderson), the show quickly became something of a pop culture sensation - popularizing the idea of government conspiracies and leading whole generations of people to declare "I want to believe".

The original show ran until 2002 and spawned two feature films before returning for a brief (though much less successful) two-season stint from 2016-2018.

Now, according to the show's original creator Chris Carter, Disney is working on a new X-Files reboot helmed by Ryan Coogler, director of movies like Creed and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
"I just spoke to a young man, Ryan Coogler, who is going to remount The X-Files with a diverse cast," Carter told CBC podcast On the Coast with Gloria Macarenko.

"So, he's got his work cut out for him because we covered so much territory."

As things stand, we don't know much else about the show or even if David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will be appearing in it at all.

From the sounds of it, the reboot will likely feature a whole new cast, perhaps with Mulder and Scully making a cameo appearance to help pass the torch to their successors.

Whether it will be able to recapture what made the original show work, however, remains to be seen.

Is Disney behind this? I thought they cut and cancel everything, how come they decided to venture into this? well if they are behind this then we know the show will be utter crap.

Been watching the original with my boyfriend as he has never seen it before. We're on season 7 now and he will not be pleased with this news. ?

This time Mulder will be watching gay adult material, and Scully will congratulate him on being his authentic self. I'm just basing this on Diznee's recent track record.

Trying to think of the last disney item I actually watched willingly. Either Darby O'Gill and the Little People, or escape to Witch mountain. My parents hated Disney shows, my siblings and I were allowed to watch their movies as kids in the the late 60’s and 70’s but they never really held any appeal for us.
