The man, who intended to visit Washington state, had wanted to know if shooting Bigfoot would break the law.
It might sound like a silly question, but when you think about it, the legality of shooting and killing a Sasquatch - should such a creature actually exist - isn't entirely clear.
According to the Stevens County Sheriff's Office in Washington state, such uncertainty prompted one caller - who said that he was planning to hunt in the Big Meadow Lake area in mid-April - to express concerns about breaking the law should he happen to bag himself a real-life Bigfoot.
"I tried to send him to Fish and Wildlife, but they had sent him to us," a post on the office's Facebook page reads.
"Mr [name removed] is worried about how to stay within the law while hunting in the Big Meadow Lake area because our state rules are not clear about hunting Bigfoot."
"He needs to know: 1. Is it illegal in Stevens County to shoot Bigfoot? 2. Does he need a regular hunting license to keep his Bigfoot hunt legal?"
"If he doesn't hear from someone today, he plans to call back tomorrow."
The caller even made a point to state that he would deliberately avoid shooting any female Sasquatch.
The Sheriff's Office replied to the query by recommending he talk to officials in Pend Oreille County instead and followed this up by insisting that there are no Sasquatch in Stevens County.
"We know this because one of our deputies would have accidentally hit one with a patrol car by now," the post reads.
