A huge search and rescue effort is currently underway to locate Michael Mosley who disappeared four days ago.
A major mystery has been unfolding this week concerning the inexplicable disappearance of Michael Mosley - a British journalist, TV presenter and medical expert who had gone for a walk on the Greek island of Symi on Wednesday afternoon only to vanish without a trace.
His wife, Dr Clare Bailey, raised the alarm when she realized that he hadn't returned.
He was seen leaving Saint Nikolas beach at 1.30pm and initially the search had focused around this area, but then CCTV footage emerged suggesting that he may have actually taken a different, more difficult coastal path and authorities have since switched to scouring this route instead.
Large groups of volunteers, as well as rescue teams, drone pilots and firefighters have spent days searching for any sign of him, but have so far come up completely empty.
"The path is not easy to follow, if he took a wrong turn he would be lost," said one volunteer.
"He could be anywhere, it is a race against time."
The search is made all the more urgent by the fact that sweltering temperatures will have made it difficult for anyone to have survived out in the open, especially for several days.
The local mayor has insisted that search efforts will continue until he is found.
As things stand, however, it is looking increasingly unlikely that he will be found alive.
Update: A body has reportedly been found in the area by search and rescue teams.
