Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths of six people who drank from cups laced with poison.
The incident, which took place at the Grand Hyatt Erawan in bangkok, has quickly become one of the most widely debated murder mysteries in recent years.
Vietnamese nationals Thi Nguyen Phuong, Hong Pham Thanh, Thi Nguyen Phuong Lan and Dinh Tran Phu were found dead alongside Sherine Chong and Dang Hung Van - two American citizens of Vietnamese origin.
All six had perished after drinking from cups laced with cyanide.
Police investigators believe that Chong had borrowed a large sum of money equivalent to around $280,000 from Hong Pham Thanh and Thi Nguyen Phuong and had been unable to pay it back.
It seemed as though the meeting had something to do with the matter, with Thi Nguyen Phuong Lan acting as an intermediary while they discussed how to resolve things amicably.
Chong had first arrived at the hotel on Sunday and Dang Hung Van had ordered six cups of tea to be delivered to the room before the group had met on Monday.
Alone in the suite at the time, Chong had received the order but had refused the waiter's offer to brew the tea. The waiter later described how she had seemed "visibly under stress" at the time.
All six met in the room later that day, but the alarm was raised when they failed to check out.
Police were quickly able to determine that they had all died of cyanide poisoning, but it remains unclear exactly who was responsible and why they did it.
Like a real-life Agatha Christie novel - there are multiple suspects and a variety of possible motives.
The search for answers continues.
