Physicist suggests that the Bible holds proof that we live in a simulation

Prof Melvin Vopson maintains that God could in fact be an artificial intelligence governing our artificial reality.
What if we told you that the world you live in isn't real ?

It might sound like a concept straight out of the Keanu Reeves science fiction favorite The Matrix, but according to some of the world's top minds, the idea that we are living inside a computer simulation is not only possible, but perhaps even more likely than the idea that we are living in the real world.

But if that was true, how would we go about proving it ?

According to physicist Melvin Vopso - an associate professor in physics at the University of Portsmouth - the key to proving that we live in a simulation could lie in the pages of the Bible.

For example, the Gospel of John states:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
Vopso maintains that "the Word" is in fact the underlying code that governs the simulation.

"The code running the simulation is not separate from the divine, but rather an integral part of it, perhaps an AI," he explained to Mail Online.

"It implies a Creator who brought the simulated universe into existence through the Word (i.e. the code). It suggests that the act of creation, as described in the Bible, could be analogous to a divine act of programming and simulation."

"What is truly remarkable is that the interpretation given is fully aligned to the events of our times: the emergence of the AI, and also it is exactly what The Matrix was projecting."

As things stand, however, there is no way to confirm one way or the other that we are actually living in a computer simulation, let alone that the pages of the Bible are trying to tell us something about it.

"Instead of viewing the simulated universe hypothesis as antagonistic to religious beliefs, one can see it as offering a complementary perspective," said Vopso.

Everything in our universe(s) exists in space and in time; by definition. Everything not in our universe(s) does not exist; yet is part of reality. Beyond our universe(s) space and time do not exist; by definition.

you try to say god is not real?

Thanks Ell, I’m guess trying to understand the difference between REAL ..& Simulation.   I can’t understand how our universe/space/time could be a simulation created by some (outside of/ Beyond) cause  not in our universe ,& which does not exist, and yet is part of reality.?        I think maybe I can understand how we can experience certain simulations…but not how Experience can be simulated.       ?

God does not exist by definition; but God is part of reality. To elucidate: reality is composed of what exists (i.e. our universe(s): specialised, independent part(s) of God)) plus what does not exist (God minus these specialised independent parts). This may be represented by a Venn diagram: a small circle(s) within a larger circle. Science can examine only that which is within our universe. By definition it cannot examine what does not exist. (Unless philosophically and mathematically by examining the nature of particle physics). This model invalidates all religious texts about existing gods ... [More]

i'm confused. how do you know god isn't real?

In my opinion simulation is a wrong, misleading term. Better see what is real but what does not exist as what is contained within a loop of yarn / thread. Now twist the loop so that a smaller loop (our universe(s), i.e. creation, that which does exist) outside it arises and double it back so that it is embedded inside the larger loop. I hope that you can visualize that more easily.

I have never said that God is not part of reality. I said that God by definition does not exist. These concepts depend upon the (philosophical) definition of the different concepts of reality and existence.

agree, sir.

Have you ever heard God cry out from pain when you kicked God? (Or hurt you toe when you kicked God?) Only those things can be affected by us that exist within our universe. Since God cannot be examined in a test tube, it must be beyond our universe, i.e. it does not exist.
