Linda Napolitano, who is the subject of a new Netflix documentary series, is now suing the streaming platform.
Her story, which has been described by some as the greatest alien abduction case in history, began back on November 30th, 1989 when Napolitano - a mother-of-two who lived in Manhattan at the time - claimed to have been visited by a 'grey biped' that had appeared in her bedroom in the early hours of the morning.
She then claimed to have been 'levitated' out of her window by a blue beam of light.
What makes the case particularly intriguing are the testimonies of multiple alleged witnesses, some of whom even claimed to have seen her hanging out of her window.
When Netflix announced that it was going to be releasing a docuseries about the case, it seemed like it would be a big hit, but just days before its debut on the platform, Napolitano - along with the estate of late author Budd Hopkins - sued the streaming giant for both defamation and for stealing the work of Hopkins who had written a book about Napolitano's case back in 1997.
While the lawsuit had requested that the documentary's release be halted, as of right now it still appears to be available to watch on the platform having released back on October 30th.
According to reports, Napolitano contests that the docuseries casts both herself and Hopkins in a negative light and that the show portrays her as a "villain for purposes of controversy and conflict."
The lawsuit is the latest in a string of legal actions taken against Netflix in response to its shows which include one by the real-life inspiration behind 'Martha' from the popular series Baby Reindeer.
Exactly what the outcome of this latest lawsuit will be, however, remains unclear.
