The report, which was written back in 1983, makes the bold assertion that 'consciousness never dies'.
Do we reincarnate after death and go on to live a whole other life as someone else ?
Many people think so and there have even been cases of very young children who seemed to possess inexplicable knowledge about their past selves that has later been independently verified as true.
According to one declassified Pentagon file, even US Army Intelligence officials believed (at least at one point) that reincarnation could actually be a very real phenomenon.
Written in 1983, the 29-page report - entitled "Analysis and Assessment of The Gateway Process" - was penned by US Army Lieutenant Colonel Wayne M McDonnell and was commissioned in relation to a highly secretive project - known as Gateway - which was described as "a training system designed to bring enhanced strength, focus and coherence... to alter consciousness."
This process reportedly involved shifting the consciousness of participants "outside the physical sphere so as to ultimately escape even the restrictions of time and space."
It turned out that the project may have inadvertently discovered evidence of reincarnation when participants began to remember "all the memories accumulated through experience in reality."
In other words, they claimed to have been able to recall details of their own past lives.
That said, it is important to note that the entire project was highly controversial to say the least, meaning that any reincarnation-related discoveries to come out of it were anything but definitive.
Even so, the report itself is definitely worth a read for those with an interest in the subject.
