Beligan Air Force officials have confirmed that the incursions, which occurred in two waves, did indeed take place.
Concerns have been raised this week following the appearance of several unidentified drones over Belgium's Kleine Brogel air base which houses around 10 to 20 US B61 nuclear weapons.
According to Belgium's Defense Minister Theo Francken, the incidents occurred on Saturday and Sunday night in two distinct waves - one involving small drones and one involving larger drones.
The devices were also reportedly capable of evading interception and radar detection.
"It resembles a spy operation. By whom, I don't know," he said. "It's not a drone that just happened to cross the military base. It was there for a long time, so it was definitely for spying."
"This was not a simple flyover, but a clear attack targeting Kleine Brogel."
'It is not clear who is responsible for the drone sightings."
The drone incursions are by no means the first - mystery drones have been showing up in the vicinity of airbases across the world in recent years.
There is also a history of alleged UFO sightings around nuclear bases in the US and elsewhere.
Some speculate that Putin could be responsible for the recent drone sightings, while others think China could be behind the phenomenon.
Whatever the case, without an effective way to neutralize small drones, incidents such as this are likely to keep happening well into the future.
