Whispers of a disclosure speech on the anniversary of the Roswell incident have been doing the rounds online.
According to reports, the rumor comes courtesy of UK filmmaker Mark Christopher Lee - the writer and director of recent documentary
The Rendlesham UFO: The British Roswell.
Lee claims that he was contacted by an insider from Trump's administration who told him that Trump had already prepared a speech confirming the existence of intelligent extraterrestrial life.
Initially, the speech was to be given during a United Nations address at some point later this year, but this was then changed to July 8th to coincide with the anniversary of the Roswell incident.
According to the insider, Trump had been adamant that the speech should be associated with the infamous incident - which saw an alleged alien spacecraft crash on a ranch outside Roswell in 1947 - because of its symbolic association with the UFO phenomenon.
The speech would allegedly confirm that an extraterrestrial craft had indeed been retrieved, that alien bodies had been found at the crash site and that such programs had been ongoing for decades.
Unsurprisingly, Lee's claim has been met with a significant degree of skepticism, with many arguing that rumors of such a speech are likely to be nonsense and that nothing at all will happen on July 8th.
It's certainly true that alleged disclosure events have been rumored for years and nothing has ever come of any of them.
There is also a great deal of controversy surrounding the Roswell incident itself and whether or not the alleged alien spacecraft was little more than a failed classified balloon experiment.
If so, then what is rumored to be in Trump's speech wouldn't make much sense.
Ultimately, we may have to wait until July 8th to find out for sure.
