Footage of the unusual phenomenon was recently uploaded onto social media by local resident Mandy Campbell.
Colorado residents were left reeling last week when a swirling wind vortex swept copious amounts of fresh snow into the air near woodland in the state's Divide area.

Mandy Campbell just happened to be at the right place at the right time to capture the phenomenon on camera.

"I was so mesmerized that I didn't record it until the very end," she wrote on Facebook, while noting that this was the first time she'd ever seen one.
According to National Weather Service meteorologist Sydney Jackson, such spectacles are rare.

"We don't see this all the time," she told KKTV 11.

"So think of like a dust devil that you may have seen before, but this with snow in Divide."

You can check out Campbell's footage of the "snownado" below.
