The long-awaited release of the US government's secretive files on the UFO phenomena is actually happening.
After months of teasing the release of the files, the Pentagon has today uploaded what is believed to be the first batch of many such documents onto the Department of War's website.
The files, which appear to have been sourced from multiple government agencies, are primarily in the format of .PDF files and can be browsed and downloaded at
https://www.war.gov/UFO/.
Additional batches of files will reportedly be added to the site over the coming months.
"The American people can now access the federal government's declassified UAP files instantly," the Pentagon wrote in a press release.
"The latest UAP videos, photos, and original source documents from across the entire United States government are all in one place - no clearance required."
There is already a lot to go through, but reports indicate that the first batch of documents includes details of some previously undisclosed UFO sightings reported during the Apollo 12 and Apollo 17 missions to the Moon.
There are also numerous UAP reports concerning encounters over multiple different countries.
Whether the files contain anything particularly conclusive remains to be seen, but no doubt we'll be hearing a lot more about what's in there over the coming weeks as news agencies and UFO researchers get the chance to sift through everything that's there.
