A new book argues that the conversions of Mayan dates may be off by as much as 100 years.
If so then the concept of the end of the world being in 2012 is also inaccurate, even if we were to accept that something will happen the exact date could be out by almost a century and might have already passed.
"The Mayan calendar was converted to today's Gregorian calendar using a calculation called the GMT constant, named for the last initials of three early Mayanist researchers."
