Police quiz armed man dressed as a banana

Credit: Frank Vincentz / CC BY-SA 3.0 (adapted) The man was found outside the Golden Triangle Tactical store dressed in a large yellow banana costume with an arrow pointing to the entrance behind him and an AK-47 assault rifle slung over his shoulder.

Store owner Derek Poe told officers that the 18-year-old was there to attract customers as part of the store's grand opening, but he was nonetheless temporarily detained for violating a city ordinance prohibiting solicitation along the side of a road.

Poe himself is no stranger to controversy having been stopped by police for carrying an assault rifle on his back through Parkdale Mall back in December.
