France maintains state-run UFO research unit

France is now the only country in Europe to maintain its own state-run UFO investigation center.
Britain's Ministry of Defence might have shut down its official UFO desk back in 2009 but elsewhere in Europe France's own state-run UFO group is still going strong.

Known as Geipan, which stands for Study Group and Information on Non-Identified Aerospace Phenomenon, the team of four staff members and one dozen volunteers continues to accept and investigate reports of UFOs from across the country.

On average the group receives around two new reports each day and requires that witnesses fill in an eleven-page form about their sighting to help provide as much information as possible.
Hoaxers and time wasters are typically filtered out fairly quickly and investigations usually begin by checking flight paths close to the location of the sighting to rule out conventional air traffic.

Many of the sightings can also be attributed to Chinese lanterns, drones and kites.

Despite this however the team continues to maintain a vigilant eye on the skies in the off-chance that the next UFO they investigate turns out to have come from somewhere a little further afield.

So you can read a lot of "books on UFOlogy" and still end up no wiser than before,... Then no wonder you didn't move from level one Shame to have such an agnostic attitude

You are jumping the gun to fit a narrative that you like. You don't know the origin of the sighting the person might have had, so you are not in a position to claim they have propagated a nonsense as fact. All that can be said is a phenomena has been been observed at hessdalen which probably accounts for some sightings since the MO is the same. That is the only true link that can be made so far, everything else is speculation or cherry-picking to fit personal opinions on sightings they were not privvy too, or in the case of some reports/stories to fit a belief already held. I beg to differ, I ... [More]

I wonder how many guys here actually read books on ufology... Not many it seems What you are not picking up on is how many people can tell fantasy from reality. You are not in that group of people.

I beg to differ, I can say that UAP which do fit many UFO/ET claims have been positively identified as natural phenomena, as have sprites, plasmas etc etc. What we have not ever had is a single stitch of proof for alien visitation in over 65 years. But we have had UFO claims resolved and all we have ever had is a result of an over exaggerated imagination. There is simply no real reason to believe that UFO's are ever or at all alien spaceships. I can prove Natural Phenomena exists, I can prove UFOlogy is used to deceive for personal gain, if one person can prove visitation, then I would be happ... [More]

That's fine. My stance has never been to convince anybody of anything - I post in line what what I have seen, therefore I know the natural explanation doesn't fit the bill for me, and if it doesn't fit the bill for me then it stands to reason that I have to look at other peoples sightings with a different view. Indeed, this place is for discussion, not convincing, when I do debate a subject it is on order to learn more, I post the absolute best knowledge I have that I know to be true and correct, and if that information can be overridden by superior information, then I am one step up. My infor... [More]

Indeed, this place is for discussion, not convincing, when I do debate a subject it is on order to learn more, I post the absolute best knowledge I have that I know to be true and correct, and if that information can be overridden by superior information, then I am one step up. My information has been updated. It just does not happen all that often as I have been looking at the phenomena since I was quite young. Hessdalen mate. I have posted links and testimonies to go with my claim many times. The Hessdalen Project website has an Observations section and there are some very interesting report... [More]
