A mystery object up to 50 feet in length that has stumped astronomers is due to pass by the Earth some time today.
The object could be space junk, an asteroid or something else. Although it is unlikely to collide with the Earth even if it did it is too small to cause any significant damage.
A mystery object from space is about to whizz close by Earth on Wednesday. It won't hit our planet, but scientists are stumped by what exactly it is. Astronomers say it may be space junk or it could be a tiny asteroid, too small to cause damage even if it hit. It's 33 to 50 feet wide at most.

Really surprised they can tell you what stars are like in different solar systems yet cannot identify something so close to earth. I'd guess it's space junk that they don't want to own-up to being responsible for. Nah... Thats not it. This time it was just one of those rocks that keeps getting in our way. One of a thousand every week that could "potentialy" kick some of our buts... depending on "Gods will" i guess..!?

Maybe the mystery thing crashed into Haiti. (Lets Hope They Are Friendly.) Given that the death toll in a Haiti is in the region of 45,000 - 50,000 do you not think that your post might just be in poor taste?

To those wondering about telescopes, They are made to see BIG things FAR away, not tiny things close up (IE: Signs of man on the moon).

To those wondering about telescopes, They are made to see BIG things FAR away, not tiny things close up (IE: Signs of man on the moon). Actually, telescopes are made to see anything close up. However, they are all limited in their resolving power. Evidence of man on the Moon, from earth based telscopes equates to very small objects very far away...beyond the resolution of earth bound instruments...or even Earth orbital instruments. That issue has been resolved by LRO, which has clearly imaged the evidence of man's presence on the Moon. This object we are discussing (and which was closed a while... [More]

when are we gonna build something to actually see things in space?...i mean like good pics...like the stuff from all the moon landings, not that crap pics they put out a few months back...something good so you want to be able to see that flag on edge. because from earth that is what we would be looking at is it's top edge.
