New research has shown that atheists are just as able to determine right from wrong as regular churchgoers.
Most religions have a moral code that determines what one must do or not do, the research however showed that even those who do not follow a religion are still just as able to exhibit intuitive judgement over what is right and what is wrong.
Atheists are just as ethical and have as strong a moral compass as churchgoers, new research shows. People who have no religion know right from wrong just as well as regular worshippers, according to the study.

Do it! Try praying for him and see if he does not get a job soon. You would need to have faith in that what you're doing will work however. snip One has to pray for him to first start wanting a job! But you made me upset, suggesting that I can pray at all... This must be a result of the moderators' action, which forced me to start expressing my opinions in the least direct fashion...

Another miracle... There is a woman at our church who as a 6 month old baby. She had many miscarriages before this baby, and she was told she would not get pregnant, but people prayed for her. Then when she was pregnant they did ultrasound and said the baby was deformed and would not live long, and people prayed. Then the baby recovered, but the experts said it would be horribly mentally handycapped and would not live long, and people prayed. Then they said during the delivery that the baby had complications and only had a 1% chance of living, and then with horrible retardation, and people pra... [More]

Why would you not pray? When praying is free and has the chance to provide results. It was when I was depending solely on myself that I got into the most trouble and made the worst decisions in my life. Did it ever occur to you that she was once a religious person and maybe found prayers not working? Telling people to pray is well more or less can be seen as a way of trying to convert.... but I dont think that is what you are doing.. all you are saying is - give it a wee go and see..... But here is my question to you - What if the person has never prayed...takes your advice..and prays and pray... [More]

Did it ever occur to you that she was once a religious person and maybe found prayers not working? That is possible. It does not work 100% of the time. Maybe not even 10% of the time. Telling people to pray is well more or less can be seen as a way of trying to convert.... but I dont think that is what you are doing.. all you are saying is - give it a wee go and see..... I did try to be careful and not say, "Pray to Jesus.", or "Pray to God.", or "Pray to the Flying Spagetti Monster.". Just offering up prayers can be seen as a gateway step to religon I guess, but I would ask equate it to sayin... [More]

I did try to be careful and not say, "Pray to Jesus.", or "Pray to God.", or "Pray to the Flying Spagetti Monster.". Just offering up prayers can be seen as a gateway step to religon I guess, but I would ask equate it to saying, "Our thoughts are with you.", and "We are sending our positive energies out to you.", which I have heard people say. Why say you are sending out energies or thoughts when they supposedly do not believe in the supernatural? (Shrug) Well I didnt see you doing anything wrong ...to me summing it up you were more or less saying - don't knock it - try it... no harm no foul f... [More]

atheists are the most moral people in the world. all theists need to do to get into heaven is "believe" in god. so they feel like they can do whatever they want and still go to their heaven. other than that I've read dozens of stories of people doing atrocious things because their "god" told them to do it....drowning kids etc. Theists are actually dangerous to society and religion a cancer to the world. and yes I am an atheist in Kentucky.. now thats miraculous hahaha

I think my glasses need cleaning as I thought this thread title read "Athiests 'Just as Ethical as Cheeseburgers'". Either doesn't say much for athiests, or doesn't say much for churchgoers!

Are you implying cheeseburgers are not ethical? Please back this up with some data or expand on this unfounded comment! icanhascheesburger sources are NOT acceptable!

I'd been browsing that site before I went to UM, so that probably explains why I read "cheeseburger"! The question remains, though. Are Atheists just as ethical as cheeseburgers?
