Archaeologists are searching for an ancient civilization in Spain that could help pinpoint the lost city of Atlantis.
The Tartessian civilization developed in Southern Spain between the 11th and 7th centuries BC and has long been linked to the fabled Atlantis.
A team of researchers from Spain's Higher Council for Scientific Study (CSIC) are examining a marshy area of Andalusian parkland to find evidence of a 3,000-year-old settlement.

I don't think we can dismiss this based on that fact alone. There are no records of the exodus from Egypt, and that is not so easily brushed aside. It is if you don't take the Bible literally, which most historians do not.

It is if you don't take the Bible literally, which most historians do not. You don't have to take the bible literally to understand where the exodus comes from. My theory is this. Akhenaten moved his people from the major cities into the desert. As all records of this experiment were destroyed, (as the egyptians were prone to do when they didn't like something from their history) it would be easy to lose the story to time. Akhenaten slowly becomes thutmosis, then Moses. The people slowly progress from being Egyptians to slaves and then Isrealites. Look up the prayer to the Aten and see the ori... [More]

ShadowSot..... I assume as you haven't replied to the post above that you accept it as a viable theory.

I do hope things ease up for you and you get some time for yourself. I look forward to continuing this debate. Until then ,may the work be easy and the pay plentiful. Hah, well, work is as it is. Sometimes easy, sometimes hard. Pay is... well, it's there. Appreciate ouor patience, and I aologize again for the snap. Here's a thread started by Sinewave, on the Archaeological Evidence for Moses, worth a look.

Thanks for the link, I spend quite a lot of last night reading it. It backs up my theory that the atlantis story is an exaggeration based on a few key facts. Not sure about my link to akhenaten now, but that was to be expected. I noticed that whilst everyone seemed to agree that the ancient historians were sketchy at best, but no one linked this style of writing to the authors of the old testament.
