A global team of scientists have announced that an asteroid impact is the only plausible cause for the dinosaurs' extinction.
Its been a subject of hot debate for decades but scientists have now agreed that the extinction of the dinosaurs was caused by a massive asteroid that smashed in to the planet at Chicxulub in what is now Mexico.
A giant asteroid smashing into Earth is the only plausible explanation for the extinction of the dinosaurs, a global scientific team said on Thursday, hoping to settle a row that has divided experts for decades.

I knew it! Only a major astronomical event like an asteroid hitting the earth can put an end to gigantic species of animals like dinosaurs. Other mass extinctions in earth's history was caused by gamma-ray bursts, from close stars in terms of light years sent lethal waves of radiation to break through the earth's atmosphere (can burn through ozone layer). Btw, I been to Lake Elsinore, since I live in the Palm Springs area and have friends in that town. Sorry for the off-topic thing, but Wickian & I are a hour's drive away.

March, 14 2010 ''It's Official''... Because 41 scientists from around the globe all finally agreed with each others research after 20 yrs. Like, yep that's it, all finally settled then... Yet when i was in primary school they expected us to buy all that...in church, it was Noah?

Some dinosaurs did survive the 'impact' mass extintion factor. Crocodiles/sharks/most insects, or am i still in third grade to?

I'm looking forward to ... Jurassic Park 4 ''THE EXTINCTION'' hopefully the creator of The Jurassic Park movies would star in that movie to become extinct too, so he wont make more of those terrible movies...it was like watching the same movie over and over

Whenever I hear about the asteroid killing the dinos, one phrase resounds in my mind... "BOOM, headshot!"

Im going to ignore the media hype: I cant help think this is just a counter to last weeks "Dinosaurs werent killed off by a big rock!" in order to sell newspapers and cause arguments on intehweb sites.... We know an asteriod hit the Dinos...we know there were other events that would have damaged the ecosystem (volcanos, decan traps, earthquakes etc)...we know the dinos died out not long after...ergo a combination of large rocks, lava and geological and meteorololliogical (sp?) upheaval is bad for anyone nearby...
