Huge seas 'once existed on Mars'

Further evidence has been found to support the idea that vast oceans once existed on the surface of Mars.
Geological mapping has revealed sedimentary deposits indicative of a large ocean over 4 billion years ago in an area of Mars called Hellas Planitia. The question remains however - was there ever anything living in it ?
The researchers say their data support a lake between 4. 5 and 3. 5 billion years ago. Some scientists believe that conditions on Mars were more favourable for the evolution of life at this time than they were on Earth.

Well, if Mars was anything like Earth, I'd say the areas we think had lakes or oceans, and that we find sediments, would be a good place to start fossil digs. It'll be a while before we're ready to start doing more than sampling yet, but once we start, I'm sure the scientists will have a good idea of where to start digging.

I wounder what you would catch if you were to go fishing way back then. Damn I hope we find a fossil or two soon. Indeed. I think it's just a matter of time...hopefully I will live long enough to see what they will find in there.

Mars is thought to have been hit by an asteroid around 4.4 billion years ago breaking off some of it. Like the one they think hit Earth and made the Moon 4.5 billion yrs ago. And some think life started 500 million years after that. So Mars may have had the same Micro cells that Earth did at the same time. Now to see if said life lived for any lenth of time or how complex it became may still take a manned mission and a large lab facility to determine.

No matter what they find on Mars walk outside on a clear night and look up into the stars. There is no way we are alone. They might be millions or even billions of light years away but this is not the only planet with life on it. Most people never even offer a second thought on the subject and laugh and giggle at the idea. But we are not alone and one day we will all be shown the truth. Our world is so corrupted now with fake photos and fake videos that it is hard to tell whats for real. But when you look at all those stars somehow you just feel it. And then you start wondering if maybe not kn... [More]

The way things are going the Earth and Mars will be indistinguishable from each other in sixty years.

Nasa already has fossils from Mars. They just won't admit it. It's a game changer. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/science/space/article6934078.ece
