The European Space Agency's Venus Express spacecraft is helping to determine if Venus ever had oceans.
Today Venus might seem a hellish place and not somewhere you'd find life but a long time ago the planet may have been home to oceans of liquid water and could have potentially developed living organisms.
The European Space Agency's Venus Express is helping planetary scientists investigate whether Venus once had oceans. If it did, it may even have begun its existence as a habitable planet similar to Earth.

Venus is closer to the sun than Earth and rotates so slowly that even with a earthlike atmosphere, it would have soon got roasted and any water around would only exist as vapour.

Infact the article itself doesn't refer to life on planet Venus NOW, but bilion of years ago. Who says that its core structure, it's distance from the Sun and the roation spin have always been the same? Of course nowadays Venus, with the features you mentioned, is no way a possible host for any kind of life (carbon + water related at least)

It's possible for Venus to have extremophile microbial lifeforms.
