It is thought that supplying an electric current to the brain can improve our mathematical talents.
A study that asked participants to solve a series of Roman numeral math problems found that those who wore a device that delivered a current designed to increase activity in one part of the brain and reduce activity in another fared much better on average at solving the problems than those who didn't.
Are we entering the era of the thinking cap - a device to supercharge our brains? Could there be a time when everyone from schoolchildren to pensioners, and artists to accountants top up their natural abilities with some funky head-gear?
