Alchemy vs the secret

The premise of The Secret is the law of attraction, that like attracts like. The author claims that our thoughts send out magnetic fields and what you think about will be attracted to you. In science a solid can be attracted to a solid of the same molecular makeup, this is called cohesion. The solids must be touching and the electrons mingle to cause a loose but measurable bond. Thoughts do produce electrical current in our brains and any electric current does in fact produce a magnetic field. However we know that with magnetic fields it is opposites that attract. The law of attraction The Secret is really closest to is birds of a feather flock together, or violence begets violence. It’s not science, it is pseudoscience. Alchemy is also a type of pseudoscience. The Fullmetal Alchemist anime uses the “First Law of Equivalent Exchange”, which states, “Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving up something in return.” This is similar to Antoine Lavoisier’s law of conservation of matter. Then there is the “First Law of Thermodynamics, Energy can be converted from one form to another but cannot be created or destroyed.”nThe Secret proclaims that if you want money you should say, “I am a money magnet.” If you fill yourself with the want of money, you must empty yourself of everything else. I have said it before and I will say it again, money equals nothing, and when you fill yourself with the want of nothingness you will surely get it.

The Secret claims that people who speak most of wealth have it, or if they speak about poverty they are poor because it is “LAW”. “The way you feel is you point of attraction.” Okay, here the deluded author is just confusing cause and effect. Wealthy people talk of wealth because they believe they have it and they want to rub it in the face of those who don’t. Poor people talk about being poor because they are. Alchemy on the other hand is like Karma. To gain anything in life you have to give something up. For most of us, we give up out time to gain the things in life we need or want. Unfortunately there is not standard unit of monetary time. To become a doctor you give up 250,000 Federal Reserve Notes and eight years of your life minimum to get there. That’s quite a commitment. Nobody ever wished themselves through medical school. Oprah endorsed The Secret on her program and the drones bought over four million copies. Four million millionaires were not instantly created though, only the author could claim that distinction. To be sure not everyone wished for money, only 99% of them did. The other one percent were men wishing for sex. I know one of them, he got screwed by his ex-wives lawyer, so be careful what you wish for, you may get it with a Karma twist. With Alchemy you have to give something up to gain anything. Since I know money equals nothing, all those who wished for it got nothing and kept wishing for more. Nothing ventured nothing gained. The author wished for book sales and got it, but she gave up her credibility and integrity. What lies ahead for someone that would take advantage of millions of gullible people? Perhaps a career in politics.
The Secret says you should be grateful for what you already have. Conversely I am grateful for what I am not. I’m not a liar or ignorant like the author of The Secret. Keeping a positive state of mind is not all bad. I’m positive that between The Secret and Alchemy, I choose Alchemy. Anything I gain, I’ll gain by my own hand. All tings come to those who wait, provided they work like mad toward their goal while they wait. So it’s time to wake up people, the money matrix has you.

Well said, I've never trusted The Secret. You want something, you work for it. If you don't work for it then how can you expect to get it?

Good Post..... "our thoughts send out magnetic fields and what you think about will be attracted to you. In science a solid can be attracted to a solid of the same molecular makeup, this is called cohesion. ... Thoughts do produce electrical current in our brains and any electric current does in fact produce a magnetic field." ....it also explains why so many people use 'affirmations'

Thoughts do affect the physical universe that our bodies live in but i wouldn't make conclusions too easy...with thoughts there can be trillions of variations concerning one thing....thats is what makes the universe so exciting.
