One gene keeps us either male or female

Scientists have found that the body is in a constant fight to stay biologically male or female and that if one single gene is suppressed it can be enough to flip from one to the other.
Women and men are constantly battling to suppress their masculine and feminine sides - at least biologically, claim scientists. Researchers have found that the body is in a constant fight to remain either female or male and the suppression of just one gene could cause it to "flip" from one to the other.

Homosexuals do not want to become heterosexual for the same reason that heterosexuals do not want to become homosexual. It's called sexual 'preference' for a reason. Similarly, homosexuals do not choose their sexual preference in the same way that heterosexuals do not choose theirs. While we're at it, there is no 'cure' for homosexuality because there is no ailment. It just is. That is ridiculous. If a cure for homosexuality is discovered and is denied by those who claim that they have these issues then they are clearly CHOOSING to be homosexual. Homosexuality is not "just is" but is a behavor... [More]

What in the heck does homosexuality have to do with this? They are talking about gender, not sexual preference. I do not know what school you went to but gender and sexual preference are connected aspects of biology.

I was just thinking the same thing.........we don't have male/female/gay Yes but isn't it the gay movement that always claims that we have other forms as well: transgirl, transguy, etc... That gender is jut a feeling or something? I have always found it funny that left-wingers claim that sexual orientation is a fixed thing but that gender is not. As I said earlier this news should make the left-wing and gays happy. Now they can change their gender back and forth at the flip of a switch.

They are talking about gender, not sexual preference. Radical, heck, most gays, say being gay is their gender. Yes but isn't it the gay movement that always claims that we have other forms as well: transgirl, transguy, etc... That gender is jut a feeling or something? I agree. It has always seemed to me that the gay rights activists are always saying there are 4 sexes... male, female, gay male and gay female. That is the basis of the claim on all Gay Rights.

That is ridiculous. If a cure for homosexuality is discovered and is denied by those who claim that they have these issues then they are clearly CHOOSING to be homosexual. Homosexuality is not "just is" but is a behavorial aspect of sexuality. There is no medical doctor that can predict the future sexual behavior of a new born child. Homoexuality most definetally is some sort of corruption and ailment. If dicoveries like this can help define the issue better then good. But no one can claim that they can not help it once they are offered a choice. No, they would be choosing to remain homosexual... [More]

but gender and sexual preference are connected aspects of biology. I was under the impression that sex was biologically determined by the good ol' XX or XY thing. And I was also under the impression that scientific evidence of a genetic or biological cause for homosexuality has not been conclusively found yet. Since, obviously, my school was sorely lacking (and really long ago), perhaps you could explain or link to a scientific explanation of how sex and sexual preference are biologically linked? I'm probably not as worldly as some of you obviously are, but I've known quite a few gay people in... [More]

A gene to switch someone that is already born's sex? Awesome. I think I'd look great in a pretty red sundress and matching pumps.

Maybe all it takes is one gene.
