When it was invented 50 years ago the laser was a "solution looking for a problem", nowadays it can be found everywhere.
From supermarket tills to the inside workings of a DVD player the laser is today used all over the world.
Today lasers read and write DVDs, guide commercial aircraft, carry out dental repairs, squirt information down optical fibres, print documents, and cut metal for tools.

Lasers rock. I have a powerful handheld model from laserglow. I also love their widespread use in industry.
