Paramedic Kandi Gay suffers from a sleeping disorder that causes her to send text messages while asleep.
Despite being unconscious Kandi is able to send completely coherent text messages to her friends due to a condition that's similar to sleep walking. "Nine times out of ten, I have no idea I'd texted in the middle of the night or I responded to a text," she said. Sleep specialist Dr Ashkay Mahadevia recommends sufferers simply avoid keeping their phone with them when they go to bed. "They're not totally asleep or awake in their consciousness, so they're in a limbo state, and that's where they act and do these things," he said.
Kandi Gay, a paramedic in the Quad Cities, sends coherent texts while she is sleeping and what's more - doesn't remember them when she wakes up. She will continue conversations with friends through the texts before putting the phone down and going back to sleep.
