Mystery spheres discovered beneath pyramid

Archaeologists have come across a number of strange spheres below an ancient pyramid in Teotihuacan.
The team had been using a special robot with cameras mounted on it to explore previously uncharted tunnels and chambers below the Temple of the Feathered Serpent when they discovered a number of peculiar spheres. Ranging in size from 4 to 12 inches in diameter, the spheres have a clay core surrounded by the mineral pyrite which gives them a yellowish color.

It is believed that the spheres would have remained untouched and undiscovered since being sealed away in the chambers up to 1,800 years ago. "We believe that high-ranking people, priests or even rulers, went down to the tunnel to perform rituals," said archaeologist Sergio Gómez Chávez. "Maybe in this place, we will find the remains of those who ruled Teotihuacan."
Archaeologists exploring tunnels under the Temple of the Feathered Serpent, a pyramid 30 miles from Mexico City, not only found three chambers (when they only expected one), but came across hundreds of mysterious metal spheres with unknown purpose.

Do people even read articals now a days? They say the spears were coated with rusted Pyrite and due too decay over time it gave them the style that they have now. So anyone know; how they had tech to oxiode the pyrite(fools gold) 1500 years ago to be coated on the spear.

I wonder; how they had the tech 1500 years ago too process the pyrite to be able to mold it on the object.

We will need to await further analyses, but it may be tentatively speculated that the jarosite was powdered, mixed with a binder, and applied in a rather paint-like manner. .

the bagdad battery was used for electro coating! Why use an exclamation mark? What you're saying is not fact. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baghdad_Battery -The bitumen completely covers the copper cylinder, electrically insulating it, so no current can be drawn without modifying the design. There are no wires or conductors with them. No electrical equipment is associated with them. A bitumen seal, being thermoplastic, is excellent for forming a hermetic seal for long-term storage. It would be extremely inconvenient, however, for a galvanic cell, which would require frequent topping up of the e... [More]

I know they have found many stone spheres in England dated around the same time as Stonehenge. I heard one theory that they may have used spheres as kind of rollers in the absence of the wheel.
